DPWH Strengthens Flood Protection in Floridablanca, Pampanga

Two (2) flood control structures were recently completed by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) along active water channels traversing the Municipality of Floridablanca in Pampanga.

Successfully implemented by the DPWH Pampanga 2nd District Engineering Office (DEO) are the construction of slope protection structures along Porac River in Barangay Valdez and Santol Creek in Barangay San Jose.

PH’s First Science Terminal Building Will Rise in Bicutan, Taguig

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has officially commenced the construction of the Taguig City Science Terminal and Exhibit Center at the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) Compound in Bicutan.

DPWH National Capital Regional Director Nomer Abel P. Canlas said that the groundbreaking ceremony was recently held for this joint project together with the DOST and the local government unit of Taguig City.

DPWH Secretary Manuel M. Bonoan on Monday, July 4, 2022, joined employees of the Department on the conduct of Flag Raising Ceremony inside the DPWH Central Office in Port Area, Manila. DPWH Completes Ibajay Bypass Road Widening in Aklan

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has completed the final phase of construction works on the Ibajay Bypass Road Widening Project to hasten mobility between municipalities in the province of Aklan.

According to a report to Secretary Manuel M. Bonoan by DPWH Aklan District Engineering Office, the project involved widening of the 1.69-kilometer section of Ibajay Bypass Road as well as the installation of 165 units of LED solar streetlights.

Seawall Protects Yolanda-Affected Families, Bridge Component Set to Begin This Year

Residents of Barangay Pagnamitan, Guiuan, Eastern Samar are now protected from storm surge and flashfloods with the 252-meter flood control structure completed by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH).

Based on a report submitted by Region 8 Director Allan S. Borromeo, Secretary Manuel M. Bonoan said that the construction of a seawall is deemed a priority to ensure that residents in the area will no longer experience the destruction caused by Typhoon Yolanda in 2013, considered among strongest typhoons to hit the Philippines.

Secretary Bonoan Assumes DPWH Leadership in a Simple Ceremony

Secretary Manuel M. Bonoan has formally assumed his role as head of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH). He succeeded Acting Secretary Roger G. Mercado.

Outgoing Acting Secretary Mercado handed over the DPWH flag symbolizing reins of the agency during a simple turnover ceremony held Friday, July 1, 2022 at the DPWH Central Office Multi-Purpose Hall in Port Area, Manila.

Secretary Bonoan’s appointment to DPWH is a homecoming of sort.

DPWH Fast-Tracks Construction of BGC to Kalayaan Viaduct

The Department of Public Works and Highways aims to complete and open the other half of the work for the BGC-Ortigas Center Link Road Project toward the end of this third quarter.

Secretary Mark A. Villar said that since the bridge component of new Sta Monica-Lawton Bridge now known as Kalayaan Bridge was opened on June 12 connecting the cities of Makati, Pasig, and Mandaluyong, DPWH has continued working the viaduct segment across Kalayaan Avenue, Makati City towards Bonifacio Global City’s 8th Avenue.
