The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has constructed a seawall structure serving both as a shoreline protection and venue for recreational and fitness activities in the town proper of Medellin, Cebu Province.

In a report to DPWH Secretary Manuel M. Bonoan, DPWH Cebu 1st District Engineer Elvis G. Calunod said that the project which was completed in the last quarter of 2023, not only protects the coastal area, but also benefits health enthusiasts as it provides a safe venue for mass dance or Zumba sessions, walking, biking, and sightseeing among others.

The Department of Public Works and Highways has completed a new river slope protection project near Labnig National High School in Barangay Labnig, Malinao, Albay.

The project aims to minimize the risk of downstream flooding and soil erosion, safeguarding the school and nearby residential areas.

Built along Labnig River, the construction of the 360-meter slope protection project consists of excavation and installation of a 6-meter steel sheet pile foundation that provides agricultural communities an irrigation for their ricefield.
