Construction of Mindanao’s Longest Bridge Now Halfway Done

Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Acting Secretary Roger G. Mercado is keen to make the most of his remaining few days as member of the Cabinet of President Rodrigo Roa Duterte administration.

Secretary Mercado declared that although time is running out for the term of President Duterte will end this June 30, his duty to the public is far from over and will not take a pause in fulfilling the enormous job at DPWH of providing the Filipino people with quality infrastructure.

Secretary Mercado Presides Monthly Meeting with DPWH Officials

Officials of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) held its monthly meeting, a day after the Cabinet Infrastructure Cluster headed by the DPWH Secretary reported President Rodrigo Roa Duterte’s Build, Build, Build infrastructure achievements in the "Duterte Legacy Summit”.

DPWH Acting Secretary Roger G. Mercado presided over the meeting Tuesday, May 31, 2022 with the DPWH Undersecretaries, Assistant Secretaries, Regional Directors, Bureau Directors, Service Directors, and Project Directors.

DPWH Completes Road Maintenance Projects in Sultan Kudarat

Two (2) preventive road maintenance projects by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) now provide seamless and more convenient travel in the province of Sultan Kudarat.

Completed in Tacurong City is a 3.25-lane kilometer asphalt overlay along Kidapawan-Allah Junction Road and another 2.97-lane kilometer asphalt overlay along Marbel-Allah Valley-Cotabato Road in Barangay Dansuli, Isulan.

In support of local industry and tourism in Zamboanga Sibugay, the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) completed two (2) access roads in the municipalities of Siay and Buug.

Based on a report from DPWH Region 9 Director Cayamombao Dia, DPWH Secretary Mercado said that the construction and improvement of access roads aim to provide improved access to boost trade and economy in the province.

The Government of the Philippines hope to secure possible new grant with the Government of the People’s Republic of China to finance a proposed iconic bridge connecting Panglao Island and mainland Tagbilaran City in Bohol Province.

“We are looking forward at the approval of official development assistance through a grant from China for the proposed Panglao-Tagbilaran City Offshore Bridge Connector (PTCOBC) Project”, said Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Undersecretary for Unified Project Management Office (UPMO) Operations Emil K. Sadain.
