CAR Road Closures Reported Due to ‘Gardo’ and ‘Henry’

Two (2) roads in the Cordillera Administrative Region are currently closed due to the threat of landslides and slope collapse caused by Tropical Depression Gardo and Super typhoon Henry.

As of 12:00 noon Friday, September 2, 2022, the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Bureau of Maintenance reported the closure of landslide-prone Kennon Road for safety reasons.

While Kennon Road remains closed, motorists heading to Baguio City may take Marcos Highway, Baguio - Bauang Road, or Asin - Nangalisan - San Pascual Road as alternate routes.

Asphalted Road Improves Access to Economic, Tourism Zone in Bataan

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has recently completed a road improvement project that eases access to the Bataan Technological Park, Inc. (BTPI) in Morong, Bataan.

DPWH Secretary Manuel M. Bonoan said that the DPWH Bataan First District Engineering Office (DEO) oversaw the implementation of the asphalt overlay project along the 861.66-linear meter section of the BTPI Road in Barangay Sabang in Morong town.

2 Concrete Walls Completed to Control Flooding in La Union

Two (2) new flood control structures built by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) are set to safeguard residents of Bangar, La Union from flood risks, especially during rainy season.

In his report to DPWH Secretary Manuel M. Bonoan, DPWH Region 1 Director Ronnel M. Tan said that aside from the construction of dikes, the project also involved rehabilitation of the riverbanks of Amburayan River.

A total of P48.02-million was allocated for the rehabilitation of the riverbank and construction of a 5-meter high dike spanning 409 meters in Barangay Mindoro.

DPWH Begins Construction of By-Pass Road Leading to Calbayog’s Gateway

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has commenced the first phase of civil works for a new bypass road leading to Calbayog Airport, starting at Barangay Trinidad connecting the diversion road in Barangay Cagsalaosao, Calbayog City, Samar.

Based on a report submitted by DPWH Region 8 Director Allan S. Borromeo, Secretary Manuel M. Bonoan said that Phase 1 involves the construction of a two-lane, 6.7-meter wide paved road spanning a total of 259.5 meters, 719.9-meter long riprap, and the installation of 27 solar LED lights, costing P31.76-million.
