Paeng Leaves P2-B Damage to Roads, Bridges

As of Thursday, November 3, 2022, partial cost of damage to national roads, bridges, and flood-control structures of Tropical Storm “Paeng” has reached P2.09 Billion.

Citing a report from the Department of Public Works and Highways Bureau of Maintenance, total cost of damage, subject for field validation, on national roads was placed at P917.80 Million, P523.80 Million on national bridges, and P652.76 Million on flood control structures.

As of 6 a.m. Saturday, October 29, 2022, a total of 22 national road sections in Regions 2, 6, 8, 12, and BARMM are impassable due to Tropical Storm "Paeng".

Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH Secretary Manuel M. Bonoan said that manpower and equipment resources of Regions and Districts affected were deployed for quick response.

“The public is rest assured that we in DPWH will do our best to restore safer travel for motorists and to facilitate faster response,” added Secretary Bonoan.

DPWH – JICA Hold First Meeting on Road Disaster and Other Countermeasures on Mountainous Roads in PH

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), joined by Japanese experts, held the first of a series of meetings to discuss the work plan in improving the capabilities of DPWH and its engineers in incorporating the latest technologies to address the problem of road disasters in mountainous areas.

DPWH Secretary Manuel M. Bonoan stressed the importance of the meeting specially to the continuing program of the Department on disaster risk reduction and climate change adaptation.
