DPWH-6 Participates in World Water Day ‘18

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) in Region VI joined the three-day celebration of World Water Day 2018 with the theme: “Water for Nature” organized by the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) in collaboration with different National Government Agencies (NGAs), schools and Local Government Units (LGUs) in Iloilo.

The activity kicked-off with a river walk held at Jayubo River in Lambunao Iloilo, followed by a river parade at Esplanade along Iloilo River to Batiano River, vice versa, on the second day.

In line with the policy instruction of Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Secretary Mark A. Villar to ensure the delivery of quality “Build, Build, Build” construction products to ultimate customers that is the travelling public, Undersecretary Emil K.

DPWH to add artistic touch to bridge projects

Future national bridges in the Philippines will not just be structurally sound but also aesthetically pleasing with the release of Bridge Aesthetic Guidelines of the Department of Public Works and Highways.

DPWH Secretary Mark A. Villar thru Department Order No. 49, ordered the adoption of aesthetic consideration in all bridge plans and designs and stated the importance of valuing the appearance of bridge structures as it should function not as mere utility but also as a significant element in the environment.

Coordination meeting on mangrove preservation along Iloilo River Esplanade projects held

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) and the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), along with non-government organizations, academe and members of the local media in Western Visayas held a coordination meeting to tackle concerns of some environmental groups on the implementation of Esplanade projects along Iloilo River.
