Aguilar is New DPWH Davao City 1st DEO Head

The DPWH Davao City District Engineering Office (DCDEO) now has a new head in the person of OIC District Engineer Wilfredo G. Aguilar.

In a simple turnover ceremony held recently at the DCDEO lobby, Aguilar formally took over the reins of the District from former OIC DE Gregorio C. Yee. The event was attended by new DPWH XI OIC Regional Director Allan S. Borromeo, Section Chiefs and employees.

Almost 1000 DPWH Crewmen Ready to Respond to Calamity

Department of Public Works and Highways Region V Director Reynaldo G. Tagudando alerted his men in the field for the series of typhoons expected to enter the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) this last quarter of 2016.

“Bicol Region, particularly Sorsogon and Albay are very vulnerable to calamities with the added presence of active volcanoes in the said provinces necessitating our readiness to respond to any eventualities,” said RD Tagudando in a meeting with the District Engineers.

Strategic Infra Programs in Region 6

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Region 6 has lined up several strategic infrastructure programs to decongest major thoroughfares and implement integrated seamless transport system in Western Visayas by providing new road openings connecting several provinces including island linkages by year 2020

According to OIC Assistant Regional Director Jose Al V. Fruto, among the projects set to be implemented includes the widening of Aklan East Road and Aklan West Road that will improve accessibility to Boracay island from anywhere in Panay Island.

DPWH Project to Alleviate Flooding in Southern Pampanga

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) targets to reduce the damage brought by perennial flooding in southern Pampanga through the implementation of the Integrated Disaster Risk Reduction and Climate Change Adaptation (IDRR-CCA) Measures in Low Lying Areas of Pampanga Bay Project.

A total of eight (8) deteriorated Sluice Gates are set to be repaired and replaced near the right bank of the Pampanga River to regulate the stream of water and prevent the backflow of the rivers.

DPWH Completes Road to Decongest Traffic in Zamboanga Sibugay

The 6.6 kilometer diversion road that will help ease traffic in the capital of Zamboanga Sibugay and congested cities of Zamboanga Peninsula is now serviceable.

Sebastian Jr reported that the Ipil Diversion Road Phase 1 which runs from Junction National Highway of Barangays Pangi, Guituan, Taway, Suclema, and Tiayon, in the municipality of Ipil, is now open to vehicular traffic, following the completion of construction activities.

DPWH Flood Mitigation Projects in Capiz Completed

Residents near the rivers in Pontevedra and Pan-ay in the province of Capiz are now less worried of water overflow during rainy season with the completion of two significant river controls in the said towns.

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Capiz First District Engineering Office (DEO) has completed the construction of Pontevedra River Control in Pontevedra town (upstream of Agbalo Bridge and Tico River Control (downstream) in Pan-ay town.
