DPWH rushes completion of Villamor Air Base Quarantine Facility, 2 other facilities in Pasay City

A 72-bed capacity COVID-19 quarantine facility at the Villamor Air Base in Pasay City is being fast-tracked for completion by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH).

Public Works and Highways Secretary Mark A. Villar said that the conversion of 18 container vans into 72-unit room isolation facility is ongoing as part of the 23 additional facilities being implemented by DPWH to augment COVID-19 bed capacity in Metro Manila.

“As of now, 15 container vans were delivered on site and we have accomplished 45 percent of the project,” said Secretary Villar.

Villar: Sorsogon City Coastal Road Is Now Open

Public Works and Highways Secretary Mark A. Villar announced that a new coastal road is now open from Rompeolas or the Sorsogon City’s baywalk up to Barangay Balogo, providing road travellers a pleasant view of the Sorsogon’s coastline.

Secretary Villar said that the four-lane Sorsogon City Coastal Road with a total length of 5.52 kilometer may be considered among the grandest “Build, Build, Build” projects in Bicol Region undertaken by DPWH Regional Office 5 and Sorsogon First District Engineering Office.

The second phase of the Department of Public Works and Highways’ (DPWH) road concreting project leading to the ongoing M’lang Airport Project in North Cotabato has been completed.

DPWH Region 12 Director Basir M. Ibrahim said that the 4.4-kilometer road construction that will provide better access to Central Mindanao’s airport is implemented in three (3) phases and has a total budget of P118 million.

Public Works and Highways Secretary Mark A. Villar said that detailed engineering design preparation is ongoing for the P7.375 Billion design and build of Panguil Bay Bridge included in the flagship infrastructure projects of the President Rodrigo Duterte administration.

Secretary Villar said that Panguil Bay Bridge is a realization of the promise to make Filipinos even more connected by building a mega bridge that will provide convenient inter-island travel in the archipelagic topography of Northern Mindanao.
