DPWH Reports 5 Remaining Closed Roads in Luzon Due To ‘Florita’

A total of five (5) national road sections in the Cordillera Administrative Region, Regions 1 and 4-A remain closed to traffic after Severe Tropical Storm Florita hit northern Luzon causing landslide, road cut, and soil collapse.

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Bureau of Maintenance reported that as of 6:00 am Thursday, August 25, 2022, three (3) roads in CAR, one (1) road in Region 2, and another one (1) Region 4-A are still impassable.

DPWH Improves Vital Roads in Morong, Bataan

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has provided better roads to travel with the completion of two (2) highway improvement projects in Morong, Bataan.

According to reports from DPWH Regional Office 3 Director Roseller A. Tolentino, DPWH Secretary Manuel M. Bonoan identified the newly-improved roads as the 758.65-linear meter section of Gov. JJ Linao Road and the 319-linear meter portion of Bataan Nuclear Power Plant Road.

A total of seven (7) national road sections, six (6) in Cordillera Administrative Region and one (1) in Cagayan Valley Region, were reportedly-closed due to landslide, fallen trees, and flooding brought about by Severe Tropical Storm Florita.

In a 12 noon report Wednesday, August 24, 2022 by the Department of Public Works and Highways - Bureau of Maintenance, road sections in CAR closed to traffic are the following:

1) Claveria-Calanasan- Kabugao Road, K0717+500-K0717+570, Namaltugan, Calanasan, Apayao due to road cut and soil collapse;

‘Florita’ Renders 3 Road Closures in CAR, Region 2

The Department of Public Works and Highways - Bureau of Maintenance has identified three (3) roads that are closed to traffic as of 6:00 AM Wednesday, August 24, 2022, due to Severe Tropical Storm ‘Florita’.

Severe Tropical Storm ‘Florita’, the Philippines’ sixth tropical cyclone for 2022, enhanced the southwest monsoon and dumped heavy to intense and at times torrential rains with strong winds over Luzon.
