Road Network Project in Siargao Island Nearing Completion

Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Secretary Mark Villar announced that a new route that will provide faster connectivity and bolster Siargao Island’s worldwide marketability is now substantially complete.

The Dapa Port – Consuelo – Corazon – Sta. Cruz – Sta. Fe – Libertad – Cabitoonan – Catangnan – Gen. Luna Road Project involves paving of 11.85-kilometer road and construction of the 2-lane 348.8 lineal meter Catangnan-Cabitoonan Bridge which showcases wide view of Siargao’s turquoise waters.

DPWH Turns Over Off-Site Dorm for Pampanga Hospital Frontliners

A new off-site dormitory that will provide temporary shelter to medical personnel of Jose B. Lingad Memorial General Hospital (JBLMGH) in San Fernando City, Pampanga was recently completed by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH).

DPWH assures the continuous assistance to the Department of Health in the provision of the much needed public health facilities to meet the COVID-19 national health emergency, said Secretary Villar.

Villar: 150 facilities constructed, repurposed by DPWH for COVID-19; 111 ongoing, 381 more proposed

Public Works and Highways Secretary Mark A. Villar on Thursday, July 23, 2020 said that a total of 150 facilities that were constructed and repurposed are now being used as facilities for quarantine, isolation and off-site dormitories of COVID-19 patients and frontline workers.

Citing the latest "We Heal as One" Report, Secretary Villar said that of the 150 facilities, 19 were newly-constructed and 131 were DPWH-constructed evacuation centers that were recently repurposed as COVID-19 facitilies.

DPWH Inspection Sees Estrella-Pantaleon, Binondo-Intramuros Bridges Right on Track for December 2020, March 2021 completion

Public Works and Highways Secretary Mark A. Villar assured that despite the lockdown due to COVID-19 which hampered construction activities, the implementation of Binondo-Intramuros Bridge and Estrella- Pantaleon Bridge is right on schedule.

Secretary Villar said that based on a report of Undersecretary for Unified Project Management Office (UPMO) Operations and Technical Services Emil K. Sadain, we are seeing December 2020 completion of Estrella-Pantaleon Bridge Project while Binondo-Intramuros Bridge Project is aimed for opening by March 2021.

DPWH 9 completed 2 convergence projects

The Department of Public Works and Highways 9 completed 2 access roads leading to trade, industries and economic zones in Barangay Butong in Diplahan and Barangay Guminta, Buug both in Zamboanga Sibugay.

The concreting projects in Barangay Butong is a 3.82 lane kilometer road with a funding amount of P51.998M and Barangay Guminta a 2.99 lane kilometer road amounting to P47.040M seen to boost rubber and coconut production in Zamboanga Sibugay.

The project is implemented by Zamboanga Sibugay 1st District Engineering Office.

DPWH 9 Paves Road Leading to Tourist Destination

The Department of Public Works and Highways 9 recently completed the P10M road concreting project in Liloy – Lamao Road, Municipality of Liloy, Zamboanga del Norte.

The 550 meters length development project leading to the tourist destination Bitoon beach will not only boost tourism but farmers can now transport their produce faster and easier.

The said project is part of the Convergence and Special Support Program of Department of Public Works and Highways and Department of Tourism.

DPWH Proposes Construction of Off-Site Modular Hospital at Quezon Institute

Preparations are underway for the construction of an off-site modular hospital for the treatment of moderate COVID-19 cases.

Secretary Mark A. Villar said that he has been working closely with the Department of Health (DOH) for the construction of an Off-Site Modular Hospital to ensure enough and timely infrastructure support in the fight versus COVID-19.

DPWH Helps DOH Expedite Construction of Additional COVID-19 Facilities at 2 QC Hospitals

Public Works and Highways Secretary Mark A. Villar announced that the DPWH is now assisting the construction of additional health facilities at East Avenue Medical Center (EAMC) and Quirino Memorial Medical Center (QMMC) both in Quezon City.

Secretary Villar said that the Department of Health (DOH) and the Inter-Agency Task Force on Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-EID) has requested the DPWH technical expertise to resolve the delayed completion of the two (2) DOH hospital building projects.

Lung Center Receives Dorms Built by DPWH for Medical Personnel

Public Works and Highways Secretary Mark A. Villar announced that medical personnel of the Lung Center of the Philippines will now have a temporary shelter within the hospital compound in Quezon City.

Secretary Villar said that government has helped alleviate daily operational challenges of healthcare workers of the Lung Center of Philippines by providing two (2) units of ‘We Heal As One Offsite Dormitory for Medical Personnel’.
