DPWH Concludes Discussion with JICA Pre-Appraisal Mission for Dalton Pass East Alignment Road Project

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) and the Pre-Appraisal Mission of Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) ended on Monday, July 3, 2023 the week-long detailed discussion for the proposed Dalton Pass East Alignment Road Project connecting the provinces of Nueva Ecija and Nueva Vizcaya.

Paved Roads Benefit Local Communities in Zamboanga City

Residents of various barangays in Zamboanga City, Zamboanga del Sur now experience better travel with the completion of four (4) road concreting projects by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH).

The road concrete paving projects are in Barangay Bolong with 348 lineal meters; Sitio Zone VII, Barangay Victoria with 184.6 lineal meters; Calle Pook, Zone III-A, Barangay Mercedes with 428 lineal meters; and Zone II, Barangay Lumbangan with 300 lineal meters.

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has built three (3) flood control structures to enhance the flood risk management in Barangay Matawe, Dingalan, Aurora Province.

In his report to DPWH Secretary Manuel M. Bonoan, DPWH Regional Office 3 Director Roseller A. Tolentino said that the DPWH Aurora District Engineering Office (DEO) has constructed and improved a total of 1.33-linear-kilometer of protective structures along waterways in Barangay Matawe that perennially overflow during heavy rains.

Coconut and banana farmers in Barangay Don Martin Marundan, Mati City, Davao Oriental now benefit from the recently-completed farm-to-market road (FMR) project constructed under the convergence program of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) and the Department of Agriculture (DA).

DPWH Regional Office 11 Director Rey Peter B. Gille, citing a report from DPWH Davao Oriental 2nd District Engineering Office, said that project which was completed during the last quarter of 2021 is a concrete road that facilitates better access to the farm lands.

1,350 Structures Assessed for Safety in CAR, Ilocos Region

As of Saturday, July 30, 2022, the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) was able to conduct rapid assessment of initial 1,350 affected structures in the Cordillera Administrative Region and Ilocos Region, following an earthquake that jolted Luzon.

Citing a report from the DPWH Bureau of Maintenance, DPWH Secretary Manuel M. Bonoan said that the inspected structures are composed of 621 national bridges, 23 government hospitals, 275 public school buildings, 417 other public buildings, and 18 other structures.
