Residents of an agricultural community have been reaping the benefits of the Department of Public Works and Highways’ (DPWH) road project that enables easier access to an irrigation facility in Floridablanca, Pampanga.

DPWH Secretary Manuel M. Bonoan, based on a report from DPWH Regional Office 3 Director Roseller A. Tolentino, identified the completed project as the Caulaman River Irrigation System Main Canal Service Road in Barangay Dampe.

Low-lying communities are now better protected against overflow from Dipolo River with the completion of a flood control structure by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) in the municipality of Ramon Magsaysay, Zamboanga del Sur.

In her report to Secretary Manuel M. Bonoan, DPWH Regional Office 9 Director Cayamombao D. Dia said that the project in Barangay Katipunan involved the construction of a 228.4-meter slope protection with a two (2)-meter walkway.

River Wall Safeguards Local Community in Jasaan, Misamis Oriental

Lives and properties are now protected against flooding with the completion of a 305-meter river wall constructed by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) in Barangay Solana, Jasaan, Misamis Oriental.

According to DPWH Secretary Manuel M. Bonoan, similar projects will be carried out all over the country, as part of the agency’s efforts to lessen the impact of La Niña in coastal communities and low-lying areas.

In an update to DPWH Secretary Manuel M. Bonoan, Region 1 Director Ronnel M. Tan said that in Barangay Pacuan, Malasiqui, the completion of the flood mitigation structure now prevents soil erosion and flooding, perennial issue faced by the community brought about by excessive rains and inclement weather.
