DPWH chief commends ‘Bayanihan’ spirit of DPWH teams amid Taal Volcano eruption

Public Works and Highways Secretary Mark A. Villar announced the deployment of additional equipment and manpower resources from DPWH NCR, Regions 1, 3, 4B, 5, 8, and 10 to the calamity-stricken areas in Batangas and other parts of Southern Tagalog Region.

“We’d like to commend the DPWH officials and field workers from other Regions who have volunteered to assist our clearing operation in areas affected by Taal Volcano eruption. This is not under their jurisdiction but they have opted to still extend help to our affected kababayans,” said Secretary Villar.

Cracks, settlement assessed along national roads in Batangas

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) is now undertaking in-depth assessment of national roads and bridges, following series of tremors brought by Taal Volcano eruption.

Based on the 11 A.M. January 14, 2020 partial report of DPWH Batangas First District Engineering Office, all roads remain passable but major cracks appeared along Palico-Balayan-Batangas Road, K0121+520 and K0121+630, in Barangay Sinisian East; and at the K0127+430 section in Barangay Palanas, both in Lemery, Batangas

DPWH continues to assist evacuees affected by Taal eruption

A total of 16, 000 residents affected by the recent eruption of Taal Volcano are now situated in evacuation centers nearest to their vicinity with the continuous assistance of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH).

With the imminent danger posed by the activity of Taal Volcano, DPWH Secretary Mark A. Villar said DPWH continues to take part in the road clearing operations and evacuation of residents that are yet to be rescued from affected areas.

Cruise Port Facility Project to put Palawan as popular international cruise destination

The Puerto Princesa City Cruise Port Facility Project, whose phases 3 and 4 are on-going, is soon put the scenic Province of Palawan in the popular list of international cruise destinations.

Implemented by the Department of Public Works and Highways Regional Office 4B, the Cruise Port Facility is a P1.5 billion-project which consists of seven (7) phases and includes the construction of 500-meter wharf, docking facility, passenger terminal and access road.

DPWH ensures on-time delivery of ongoing Iloilo East Coast Capiz Road Widening Project

The ongoing widening from two (2) lanes to four (4) lanes of the Iloilo East Coast Capiz Road in Panay Island is nearing completion.

This was announced by DPWH Iloilo 3rd District Engineer Flordelis C. Enriquez who reported that the P24.69 million widening of the Iloilo East Coast Capiz Road covering its 803-meter portion is now 70 percent completed. Our target completion of this project is by March 2020,” said District Engineer Enriquez.

DPWH resumes construction of Mandulog Bridge 1 in Iligan City

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has resumed activities for the construction of Mandulog Bridge 1 in Barangay San Roque, Iligan City after Affected landowners have come to an agreement with the Department.

DPWH Region 10 Director Zenaida Tan said that after series of consultations with stakeholders, the approach of the bridge project was redesigned to lessen the number of families affected.
