Tuesday, June 21, 2016

Iyam Bridge along Lucena Diversion Road in Barangay Domoit, Lucena City, Quezon Province will be temporarily closed to vehicular traffic due to reconstruction and widening activities.

In an advisory report to Secretary Rogelio L. Singson from the Department of Public Works and Highways Regione 4-A Director Samson L. Hebra, Iyam Bridge will be closed to traffic effective 7:00 PM of June 22, 2016 to give way for the launching works of girder.

The DPWH advises light vehicles and buses from Manila bound for other parts of Quezon Province, Bicol and Visayas Regions and vice versa to utilize the Old Route of the Manila South Road at the Lucena City proper.

However, trucks and other heavy vehicles will have to wait for the re-opening of bridge to vehicular traffic at 6:00 AM on June 26, 2016 as they will not be allowed to enter the city proper.

Appropriate directional signs have been installed to inform motorists about the bridge closure.

Aware of the impact on vehicular traffic on the closure of Iyam Bridge along Lucena Diversion Road, the DPWH have also coordinated with the City Government of Lucena and Lucena Police Office to provide assistance in managing rerouted traffic at the Old Route.

Secretary Singson has ordered the DPWH Region 4-A to ensure that the contractor R.V. Laborte has the operational and capable equipment specifically cranes as well as manpower to facilitate ahead completion of the installation works for the fabricated girder so that the affected highway can be open to motorists.
