DPWH Achieves 10 Years of ISO Certification

Monday, June 30, 2025

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) announces on Monday, June 30, 2025, its recertification of all its offices to the ISO 9001:2015 standards, marking a decade of commitment to quality management and excellence in public service aligns with the President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. administration's brand of governance and leadership under the "Bagong Pilipinas".

"We are thrilled to celebrate this significant milestone, reflective of our unwavering commitment to continuously improve the DPWH quality management system (QMS). This achievement would not have been possible without the hard work and dedication of the men and women of the Department who strive to improve public service delivery, especially the members of our QMS Core Team headed by Undersecretary Marichu A. Palafox, the QMS secretariat, and all the past members for their efforts over the last 10 years,” said Secretary Manuel M. Bonoan during the awarding ceremony.

Secretary Bonoan added that ISO 9001:2015 certification has allowed the regular audit of all DPWH processes to ensure that operations meet the requirements of its stakeholders, including the public, contractors, and other government agencies. This has resulted in improved efficiency, effectiveness, and accountability in Department’s operations nationwide.

On its 10th year, the accreditation to ISO:9001:2015 QMS standards was conferred by TÜV NORD Philippines, Inc.

The DPWH was first certified to the standards of ISO 9001:2008 in 2015 with 6 DPWH Bureaus and 9 Services, DPWH National Capital Region and Regional Office XI, and the District Engineering Offices (DEOs) of South Manila and Davao City as pilot offices covered. The following year, the certification was expanded from Bureaus and Services to five (5) Unified Project Management Offices, all 17 Regional Offices (ROs), and 17 DEOs.

By 2017, the Department transitioned to the ISO:9001:2015 Certification for all Bureaus, Services, UPMO Clusters, ROs and DEOs nationwide, and since then, has consistently maintained and improved its QMS to ensure conformity to international standards.

“As we continue to implement our ambitious Build, Better, More infrastructure program, we remain committed to maintaining this certification – a reminder of the importance of quality management in achieving the development goals of a "Matatag, Maginhawa, at Panatag na Buhay" for the Filipino people,” said Secretary Bonoan.
