The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) is fast-tracking the construction of an access road that will aid the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) in performing its mandate in the Municipality of Abucay, Bataan.
DPWH Regional Office 3 Director Roseller A. Tolentino, in his report to DPWH Secretary Manuel M. Bonoan, said that the almost completed project in Barangay Capitangan will provide a much-needed road connection to the PCG Antennae in the area.
Under the implementation of the DPWH Bataan First District Engineering Office (DEO), the construction of the 4.48-kilometer long, 6.1-meter wide access road is now 94 percent complete.
According to Director Tolentino, if weather permits and no interruptions in the road works occur, the access road may become fully passable to locals and uniformed personnel of PCG by May 2024, which is one month ahead of its scheduled completion date.
The P99-million project is funded under the 2023 General Appropriations Act (GAA).
