The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), in partnership with the Department of Agriculture (DA), has constructed a farm-to-market road (FMR) that now facilitates improved accessibility and enhanced agricultural economy in Magalang, Pampanga.

Completed by the DPWH Pampanga Third District Engineering Office is a 942-lineal-meter road in Barangay Sto. Niño, Magalang inside the Central Luzon Integrated Agricultural Research Center (CLIARC) with width of four (4) to five (5) meters.

In a report to DPWH Secretary Manuel M. Bonoan, DPWH Regional Office 3 Director Roseller A. Tolentino said that the newly-concreted road plays a vital role in promoting economic development in the area.

The paved road reduces transportation costs and provides potentially higher profits for farmers in Barangay Sto. Niño by allowing more efficient and quicker transport of agricultural products to market centers in Magalang and nearby towns.

Locals gain from the new road as a result of improved access to basic services that ensure their social integration and involvement in the larger economy and opportunities in the province of Pampanga.

The concrete road was constructed in the amount of the P16 million with funding sourced from DA’s Farm-to-Market Road Program (FMRP).
