The construction of a new Pasaruboy Bridge by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has linked the remote San Ildefonso Peninsula to other communities in Casiguran, Aurora.

DPWH Secretary Manuel M. Bonoan, citing a report from DPWH Regional Office 3 Director Roseller A. Tolentino, said that the completed 75-meter long, 9.54-meter wide Pasaruboy Bridge that now connects Barangays Cozo and San Ildefonso.

The completed bridge has approach of 412.95 meters at Abutment A and 123.67 meters at Abutment B.

Construction of a 362.3-meter concrete slope protection structure was also included to prevent riverbank erosion and protect the bridge’s piers from scouring, Secretary Bonoan added.

The communities of Cozo and San Ildefonso are among the three (3) barangays comprising the San Ildefonso Peninsula with Cozo River separating the latter from the rest of Casiguran town.

The lack of a reliable bridge in the area pushed residents of Barangay San Ildefonso to risk their lives crossing the river, which is usually impassable during high tide, just to get to the adjacent barangay or town center of Casiguran.

With the newly-constructed Pasaruboy Bridge, locals and travelers now have better access not only to Barangay San Ildefonso but also to Casiguran’s popular beach destinations.

Implemented by the DPWH Aurora District Engineering Office (DEO), the construction of the Pasaburoy Bridge was constructed in the amount of P89.1 million with funding sourced from the General Appropriations Acts (GAA) of 2022.
