A newly-paved road by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) now provides a safer and more convenient access for locals and tourists going to Mambukal Mountain Resort in the municipality of Murcia, Negros Occidental.
In her report to DPWH Secretary Manuel M. Bonoan, DPWH Region 6 Director Nerie D. Bueno said that the project which stretches from Benigno S. Aquino Drive to Barangay 23 in Bacolod City is expected to spur local tourism, economic, social, and cultural development.
“With the concrete paved road, locals and visitors now experience direct accessibility and ease of transport to Mambukal Mountain Resort and nearby tourist attractions, as well as local markets and other economic zones,” said Director Bueno.
Scope of works on the project include the removal of actual structures and obstructions, portland concrete cement paving, and improvement of drainage system using reinforced concrete culvert pipes.
The P77.2-million road improvement project was undertaken by DPWH Bacolod City District Engineering Office through the Tourism Road Infrastructure Project (TRIP).
