The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) provided the municipalities of Capas and Moncada in Tarlac with two (2) multi-functional covered courts, which are ready for use by residents of the recipient communities.
Citing reports from DPWH Regional Office 3 Director Roseller A. Tolentino, DPWH Secretary Roger G. Mercado identified the two (2) multi-purpose buildings (MPBs) as the Kalangitan National High School covered court in Barangay Kalangitan, Capas town and the community covered court in Barangay Villa in Moncada town.
Implemented by DPWH Tarlac 2nd District Engineering Office (DEO), the newly-constructed covered court in Kalangitan National High School is intended as venue for hosting a multitude of programs and events such as school activities, sporting events, delivery of social services, and other extra-curricular activities.
Meanwhile, DPWH Tarlac 1st DEO completed the Barangay Villa covered court ahead of schedule for its residents to have a safe and secure place for sports, educational, and recreational activities, all the while increasing the community’s ability to conduct events that will promote public interest.
DPWH Secretary Mercado expressed his utmost support in providing MPB infrastructure in different barangays in the country as these structures double as evacuation centers where locals can seek shelter in times of calamities.
The constructions of both MPBs were funded through the DPWH’s Basic Infrastructure Program under the 2022 General Appropriations Act (GAA).
