An access road constructed by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) now ensures a safer and more convenient travel to Maticdum Falls in Tandag City, Surigao del Sur.

“With Maticdum Falls accessible only by foot, the newly-paved road will ease travel for both locals and visitors and better promote the miniature waterfall as a tourist destination,” said Secretary Roger G. Mercado, citing reports from DPWH Region 13 Director Pol delos Santos.

Costing P31.8 million, the project involves the construction of a 15-meter bridge, concreting of a 1,038.8-meter road with 675.50-meter graveling.

Besides increasing tourism arrivals, the access road also expects to improve road connectivity and accessibility of goods, people, and services in Barangay Maticdum.

The project was undertaken by DPWH Surigao del Sur 1st District Engineering Office.
