Farmers and residents of Barangay Ilongbukid in San Rafael, Iloilo have experienced better accessibility within their community since the completion of a road concreting project by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH).

According to DPWH Region VI Director Lea N. Delfinado, access to various farmlands in Brgy. Ilongbukid has improved following the completion of the 706.50-lineal meter road implemented by Iloilo 3rd District Engineering Office (DEO).

The road improvement project provided an easier, faster, and cost-effective transport system for farm products produced by local farmers in the town.

The upgraded farm-to-market road (FMR) in the amount of P9.75 million not only lessened the hauling cost of farmers leading to more earning for their families, it also enables basic services such as health, social, and other government services to be easily accessible even in remote areas.

The Brgy. Ilongbukid FMR was undertaken by the DPWH in convergence with the Department of Agriculture (DA).

More farm-to-market connectors are underway in various areas of Western Visayas to ensure better and seamless delivery of goods and services in the region.
