DPWH joins Duterte Legacy Caravan

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) will be participating in the September 30, 2021 launching of the “Duterte Legacy: Barangayanihan Caravan Towards National Recovery” organized by the Presidential Communications Operations (PCOO), Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) and the Philippine National Police (PNP).

The nationwide caravan which will have venues in all 16 regions and in Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM), aims to organize an event to showcase government's programs, policies, accomplishments, and efforts to bring about real change to the lives of the Filipino people.

DPWH Secretary Mark A. Villar said that from July 2016 to May 2021, the build, build, build program from has already completed 29,264 kilometer of roads; 5,950 bridges; 11,340 flood control projects; 150,149 classrooms; and provided 6.5 jobs from 2016 to 2020 with about 1.6 million expected this 2021.

To support the caravan, Secretary Villar ordered all DPWH Regional Offices to establish a designated DPWH Public Assistance and Complaints Desk, as well as a DPWH Bigay Trabaho Help Desk on the identified event locations.

According to Secretary Villar, the DPWH Help Desks aims to further improve engagement to the public. The Duterte Legacy Caravan will be simultaneously launched in all regions. In the National Capital Region, the event will be held in Parañaque City; La Trinidad, Benguet in the Cordillera Aministrative Region; San Fernando City, La Union in Region 1; Ilagan City, Isabela in Region 2; San Fernando City, Pampanga in Region 3; Batangas City in Region 4A; Calapan City, Oriental Mindoro in Region 4B; and Pili, Camarines Sur Region 5.

In Visayas, the caravan will be held in three (3) different locations comprising of Victorias City, Negros Occidental in Region 6; Cebu City in Region 7; and Catarman, Samar in Region 8.

Similar events will happen in Sicayab, Zamboanga del Norte in Region 9; Initiao, Misamis Oriental in Region 10; Tagum City in Region 11; General Santos City in Region 12; Butuan City in Region 13; and Parang, Maguindanao in BARMM.
