
The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has paved 1.5-kilometer of roads in the Municipality of Labason, Zamboanga del Norte.
Based on a report submitted by DPWH Region 9 Director Cayamombao D. Dia, DPWH Secretary Mark A. Villar stated that the two (2) projects were accomplished along Lopoc-Dansalan Road and Barangay Ubay, in Labason, Zamboanga del Norte with an allocated budget of P15-million and P10-million, respectively.
Scope of works include earthworks, construction of Portland Cement Concrete Pavement (PCCP), installation of pavement markings, and provision of drainage and grouted riprap.
“Road networks that will help improve the mobilization of agricultural products from farms to bigger market hubs are important infrastructure in rural areas that will further increase socio-economic activities,” said Secretary Villar.
“These projects will help reduce travel time and road maintenance cost, while providing more livelihood opportunities to the locals,” added Secretary Villar.
With the completed road projects, domestic tourism is also expected to bolster as it will encourage travelers and outdoor activities enthusiasts.
