Friday, July 16, 2021

Far-flung communities in the central part of Iloilo are now reaping the benefits of concrete paved roads delivered to completion by the Department of Public Works and Highways’ (DPWH) in the towns of Sta. Barbara and Alimodian.

Secretary Mark A. Villar said that the completed road improvement projects will make a vital contribution to the economic development and growth of Iloilo.

Secretary Villar, citing a report from DPWH Region 6 Director Lea N. Delfinado and Iloilo 4th District Engineering Office (DEO) OIC-District Engineer Mario G. Soriano identified the newly-improved road in highland communities of Sta. Barbara as the upgraded 821-meter Barangay Malawog farm-to-market road (FMR).

The P9.85-million road concreting project has led to a more efficient transport of agricultural products from farms to market centers while also providing easier access of basic government services to hard to reach areas since its completion.

Meanwhile, two (2) road concreting projects along Laylayan-Bagsakan-Punong-Bugang Road in the town of Alimodian, with the total length of 1.99 kilometer costing P24.61 million, were also completed by the Iloilo 4th DEO during the first two quarters of 2021.

“More road projects are in the works to ensure ease of travel and faster delivery of basic services even to far flung and highland communities in Iloilo Province,” Secretary Villar added.
