
The Department of Public Works and Highways has completed rehabilitation and upgrading of Guimbal-Igbaras-Tubungan-Leon Road in Leon, Iloilo.
Said project, with the amount of P77.209 Million funded under the FY 2014 General Appropriations Act, is divided into two sections; section 1 is from K0064+(-537) to K0065+583, while section 2 is from K0065+103 to K0066+405.
The project involves upgrading of 2.488 kilometers of existing road from gravel to Portland concrete cement pavement (PCCP), with the thickness of 0.28 meters and width of 6.70 meters.
It also involves construction of paved shoulders with the thickness of 0.15 meters, drainage, slope protection (grouted riprap and stone masonry), road signs and thermoplastic pavement markings.
Said road upgrading project is implemented by the Regional Office and supervised by Iloilo Fourth District Engineering Office.
The upgraded road provides faster delivery of agricultural products from the towns of Igbaras, Tubungan and Leon to Iloilo City.
It also provides riding comfort to the commuters and ease traffic situation in the area.
Further, the rehabilitation effort resulted an improved local population’s access to basic services and economic opportunities for an improved quality of life.
