8 Roads Still Closed Due to Monsoon, Easterlies Rains

As of 12:00 noon Thursday, January 14, 2020, the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Bureau of Maintenance has reported a total of eight (8) national road closures due to heavy rains brought by northeast monsoon and easterlies.

The affected road section in the Cordillera Administrative Region is at the Jct. Talubin - Barlig - Natonin - Paracelis - Calaccad Road, K0436+983 - K0436+995, Sta. Isabel, Natonin, Mt. Province due to landslides while the Tabuk-Banawe via Tanudan-Barlig Road, K0540+300 - K0540+350 in Lubo, Tanudan, Kalinga which was closed since Tropical Depression Vicky remains closed to traffic due to landslide.

Heavy rain also rendered four (4) road sections impassable in Bicol Region namely: Daang Maharlika, K0281+500, Brgy. Tigbinan, Labo, Camarines Norte due to damaged bailey bridge; Jct. Panganiban‐Sabloyon Road K0061+020, Brgy San Miguel, Panganiban, Catanduanes due to road slip; Jct Baras‐Gigmoto‐Viga Road, K0060+900, K0061+400, K0061+800, +200, 63+100 Brgy. Sioron, Gigmoto, Catanduanes due to landslide; and Jct. Sorsogon-Bacon-Manito, K0597+530 - K0597+650 in Sorsogon due to landslides.

In Region 8, DPWH is monitoring and clearing closed roads at the Bdry. Silago-Abuyog Road K0996+(-651) -K1011+931 Panalian Bridge in Southern Leyte due to washed-out detour; and the Wright-Taft-Borongan Road sections at Camp.5 Bndry - Jct. Taft, Sta. K0863+000, Brgy. San Rafael, Taft, Eastern Samar and Brgy. Binaloan, Taft, Eastern Samar, Sta. K0872+300 due to rockfall and landslide. The Daang Maharlika, K0984+800-K1003+972 Layog Bridge (B00551LT) in Barangay Polahongan, Mahaplag, Leyte has also been closed since December 15, 2020 due to bridge failure.

Meanwhile, only remaining closed road in Mindanao due to the intermittent weather condition is the Dinagat - Loreto Road, K0040+800 Villa Ecleo,Basilis, Dinagat Islands due to soil erosion. Other road sections are already one-lane passable.
