Movement of goods and services will soon have a significant improvement with the soon-to-be completed road concreting project in San Ricardo town, province of Southern Leyte.

Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Secretary Mark A. Villar said that the ongoing 3-kilometer road project which will traverse along the sections in Barangays Benit, Bil-atan, and Esperanza and will form part of the Lilolan-San Ricardo Circumferential is now 90 percent complete based on latest report from DPWH Southern Leyte District Engineering Office.

Costing P80 Million, the 2-lane road project aims to connect and improve the conditions of the local road in the southernmost tip of Panaon Island as it is one of the identified far-flung areas that require infrastructure support for its agriculture, trade, and tourism.

“Locals in the far-flung areas endure poor road network which restricts their economic activity. We are hopeful that this project will help address the problem and provide them with more opportunities,” added Secretary Villar.

The road project also includes a drainage system and slope protection works as safety features.
