Department of Public Works and Highways Secretary Mark A. Villar announced the start of works for two (2) additional quarantine facilities in Metro Manila.

Secretary Villar said that the Filinvest Tent in Muntinlupa City will be converted into a qurantine facility with 108 beds.

DPWH will also commence work for the building of quarantine center at the Philippine Institute of Sports Multi-Purpose Arena or Philsports Arena formerly ULTRA in Pasig City.

We will be building makeshift hospital rooms for 156 patients at ULTRA and finish the works as fast as we can similar to what we have done at PICC, added Secretary Villar.

The construction of the cubicles may be conducted offsite by workers as social distancing measure with assembling of the cubicles and finishing works to be performed in the actual site.

"With public-private partnership, the government hope to further convert more facilities to address hospital congestion, and ensure efficient treatment of patients battling COVID-19 virus," said Secretary Villar.

The technical plans for both ULTRA and Filinvest Tent were approved by hospital design specialist Architect Dan Lichauco.
