
The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) plans to start by July 2020 the construction of 8-hectare San Rafael North Resettlement Site in Noveleta City, Cavite which is a component of the Cavite Industrial Area Flood Risk Management Project (CIA-FRIMP).
The resettlement site construction which will be implemented under CIA-FRIMP Package 5 will include residential land development, road and drainage works, embarkment and slope protection works, laying down of water supply pipelines and electric posts wiring, and other community facilities when deemed necessary.
According to DPWH Unified Project Management Office Flood Control Management Cluster (UPMO-FCMC) Project Director Ramon A. Arriola III, about 470 informal settler families (ISFs) and 110 formal settler families (FSFs) that will be affected by CIA-FRIMP will be accommodated by the resettlement area.
The resettlement project is scheduled to be completed by the end of 2021, in time for the construction of CIA-FRIMP’s other components which include works in nine (9) towns and cities in Cavite province.
CIA-FRIMP covers 148.8 square-kilometers of San Juan River Basin and 4.7 square-kilometers of Maalimango Drainage Area and will cost P7.1 billion funded through the help of Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).
