
The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Negros Occidental 1st District Engineering Office (DEO) reported 57.05 percent completion of the ongoing Silay-Lantawan Road Widening Project in Silay City, Negros Occidental.
According to DPWH Negros Occidental 1st DEO District Engineer Jaime SJ. Javellana, the road widening project spanning 2.46 kilometers is being fast-tracked for completion this year.
Silay-Lanatwan Road is a major highway that is utilized in bringing farm products to the market specifically the hauling of sugarcane from farm-to-mill. This also serves as entry point to several tourist destination in the province.
DPWH allocated P69.04 million for the road widening project, targeted to be completed by May 2020. It also covers embankment protection, stone masonry, and drainage provision.
