The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has facilitated the completion of a smoother and better 1.36-kilometer newly-asphalted road in Calbayog City, Samar.
In her report to Secretary Mark A. Villar, DPWH Region 8 Director Nerie Bueno said that a P75-million asphalt overlay project was implemented along the 1.36 kilometer-long, four-lane section of Daang Maharlika in Barangay San Joaquin.
“Asphalt overlay was preferred not only to prevent surface water from entering and weakening the underlying pavement, but also to create a smooth road surface and a better conveyance for the travelling public,” said Director Bueno.
The road improvement project along Daang Maharlika was implemented by DPWH Samar First District funded under 2019 General Appropriations Act (GAA).
