The Basey Bypass Road Project in Samar is nearing completion and will open income-generating opportunities for the residents of Basey, Samar.
The on-going 2.4-kilometer bypass road which is 71.50 percent complete starts in Barangay Magallanes and ends in Barangay Guirang leading to the popular destination of Sohoton National Park.
DPWH Region 8 Director Nerie Bueno said that the road improvement project will open business opportunities specifically eateries, pasalubong centers, and boat services considering that the road section leads to Sohoton Cave and Balantak Falls which are known tourist destinations in the municipality.
“Upon completion, the bypass road will cut travel time going to Sohoton National Park from three (3) hours and thirty (30) minutes to just one (1) hour and thirty (30) minutes,” Bueno added.
In addition, the bypass road will also hasten transport of agricultural products and crafts like clay pots, bamboo furniture, and banig.
The P68-million bypass road project funded under the 2018 General Appropriations Act is being implemented by the Samar 2nd District Engineering Office (DEO).
