The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has completed the second phase of a flood-control project along Oquendo Creek in Barangay Oquendo, Calbayog City, Samar.
Based on the report of Regional Director Bueno, the 234 linear meters long revetment on both sides of the Oquendo creek costing P20 million and include works of a double-barrel box culvert, plant boxes, street lights, canals, and a riprap.
“Bodies of water tend to overflow onto the adjacent plainlands affecting a number of households in this area but with the newly-built flood control structures, residents will feel safer,” said Director Bueno.
Oquendo Creek is a tributary of Jibatang River of Samar.
