The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) is paving a local road that is seen to boost coconut and coffee production in Zamboanga Sibugay.
According to a report submitted by DPWH Zamboanga Sibugay 1st District Engineer Rey F. Janolino, a P55-million road project is currently ongoing at the 4.8-kilometer, 2-lane Junction Lanao-Pagadian-Zamboanga City Road that will connect Barangays Del Monte and Muyo, in the municipality of Buug, Zamboanga Sibugay.
DPWH Secretary Mark A. Villar said that the road works is part of DPWH convergence project with the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) being implemented with the purpose of helping farmers in delivering agricultural products to commercial hubs in the city and creating more opportunities for local famers in the area.
“Now 98.50 percent completed, this road will improve access to trades, industries, and economic zones by making travel time between Barangay Del Monte and Muyo even shorter, from 15 minutes to just 4 minutes,” said Secretary Villar.
Aside from farmers, residents will also benefit from the project by providing an easier and safer route going to and from the barangays.
