Better road experience is generated in the first district of Samar with the completion of the road widening in Brgy. Capoocan and Brgy San Joaquin with a revised contract amount of ₱70.6 million, among the many other improvement and road widening projects of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH).
The road project is now 100% completed converting the existing two-lane road ways into four-lane highways. In conjuction with the other widening projects along Daang Maharlika, travel time from Allen to Calbayog is now reduced from 1 hour and 30 minutes to just an hour. Furthermore, road capacity is improved as Samar First District Engineering Office (SFDEO) hopes that this will also in turn alleviates traffic woes.
The project includes widening of 5.062 km. of road. SFDEO envisions that traffic gridlock brought by the increased number of vehicles will soon be a thing of the past.
