
The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), in partnership with the Office of Civil Defence (OCD) is now building a two-storey Government Command and Control Center (GCCC) facility for the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) in Barangay Bancasi, Butuan City.
In his report to DPWH Secretary Mark Villar, DPWH Assistant Secretary for Regional Operations in Mindanao Maximo L. Carvajal said the project which he led the groundbreaking recently is designed to be a state-of-the-art building that will beef-up the disaster risk reduction efforts of the government in Mindanao.
DPWH allocated a total of P77 million for the facility with 2,063.74-square meter ground floor, 926.39-square meter second floor and a 712.46-aquare meter roof deck.
“This facility will be spacious enough to house massive leaders’ conference during high-level disaster circumstances,” said Assistant Secretary Carvajal.
“It is also strategically located near Bancasi Airport and is very close to the disaster-resilient warehouse and the PAGASA-DOST satellite office to ensure access and close coordination with vital agencies during calamities,” added Assistant Secretary Carvajal.
The construction of Government Command and Control Center in Butuan City will be implemented by DPWH-Butuan City District Engineering Office for 540 calendar days.
