The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has completed the construction of a new school building that will benefit hundreds of elementary students in Navotas City.

Based on the report of DPWH-National Capital Region Director Ador G. Canlas, the P26.67-million school building project at Dagat-Dagatan Elementary School involves the construction of a four (4) storey building with eight (8) classrooms.

During the recent public report of the Cabinet Infrastructure Cluster before the President Rodrigo R. Duterte’s SONA, DPWH Secretary Mark A. Villar cited the importance of providing students a conducive environment for learning through safe, secure, and sustainable school infrastructure.

“We aim to provide not just our students but also the teachers and other school workers a comfortable classroom setting that will complement the increasing number of enrollees,” said Secretary Villar.

The new school building was constructed to replace the previous old structure and its worn out facilities particularly the sewage sytem and corroded water lines that could threaten the health of stakeholders.

The project was implemented by DPWH in coordination with the Department of Education (DepEd) through funding from the Basic Education Facilities Fund (BEFF).
