The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Central Office commended Samar First District Engineering Office (SFDEO) for having achieved a very satisfactory (VS) final rating for CY 2018 relative to the implementation of D.O.41, s. 2016, Amended Policy Guidelines on the Maintenance of National Roads and Bridges.
SFDEO scored 88.05% and 97.90% in the first and second semesters respectively, bringing its final rating to 92.97%. This is significantly higher than last year’s 87.48% overall rating.
The Bureau of Maintenance conducted the road rating inspection and validation last February and July, covering a total of 144.80 kilometers of paved road consisting of 101.2 kilometers of asphalt roads and 43.6 kilometers of concrete road.
Maintenance Section Chief Engr. Ramon Calagos recalls that the district office has been served warnings by the DPWH – Central for having a failing score of 68.11% for CY 2016.
This has pushed the team to work harder and boost their efforts in maintaining our roads and bridges not just for the benefit of SFDEO but also for the safety and convenience of our travelling public.
This is a continuous commitment that SFDEO upholds.
