DPWH, DTI to further boost industries, infra links

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) and Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) in Eastern Visayas convene to further strengthen, linking industries through public infrastructure in February 7, 2019 at the DPWH Multi-Purpose Building, Baras, Palo, Leyte.

DPWH Assistant Regional Director Eric Ayapana welcomed the participants together with Officer-In-Charge Regional Director Celerina T. Bato of the Department of Trade and Industry, and Assistant Chief Agnes M. Baronda of Planning and Design Division and some 66 participants from DPWH District Engineering Offices and Local Government Units (LGUs) region wide.

“It’s been two years since this convergence program between our respective agencies was launched with the goal of promoting economic growth and infrastructure development in the Philippines and we have seen significant growth in the country in the industry performance, as shown in the accelerating infrastructure spending of our country,” ARD Ayapana said.

“This meeting will capacitate our respective offices as well as other stakeholders in the industry sector to identify, evaluate and prioritize ROLL IT Projects,” he added.

DPWH and DTI meeting for Roads Leveraging Linkages for Industry and Trade (ROLL IT) Program purports to further fuel the recent high growth of domestic investments as well as the surge in foreign direct investments of the country, through more road projects funded within the present Administration.

Director Bato presented the Policy Guidelines for CY 2020 DPWH-DTI Convergence Program Budgeting.

Under the ROLL IT Program, DPWH and DTI jointly undertake planning, budgeting, advocacy for legislation, identification, evaluation, prioritization, regulation, supervision, implementation, and monitoring and evaluation of industry-developing infrastructure projects in priority economic and manufacturing zones in the Philippines. It also aims to fast track industry and trade growth.
