The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has completed the paving of 2.293-kilometer road from Poblacion Barotac Nuevoto to Barangay Acuit Road in Barotac Nuevo, Iloilo costing ₱48.998 million.

According to DPWH Region 6 Director Wenceslao M. Leaño Jr., the project involves a 2-lane road with a pavement width of 6.70 meters and thickness of 280 millimeters, including drainage system, slope protection and pavement markings.

The newly paved road leads to Dumangas Ro-Ro Port, which serves as one of the gateways for sea transportation of goods and services in and out of Panay Island.

DPWH Iloilo 2nd District Engineer Sanny Boy O. Oropel said that the concreted road improves the overall accessibility and reduces transportation cost for the delivery of goods and services from Panay Island to other regions.

Moreover, travel time of the motorists and commuters from the town of Barotac Nuevo to Dumangas is reduced by about 20 minutes resulting to easier transfer of good and provision of services that boost economic condition of communities.
