Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Bacolod City District Engineering Office met with the local officials and residents of Barangay 16 in Bacolod City to tackle the issue of road obstructions and check the flow of traffic and pedestrians in the area.
According to a barangay official, three fire incidents broke out in the area recently, in which the fire trucks were unable to penetrate the affected area due to several motorcycles and bicycles parked along the roads, hence aggravated the damaged brought by fire.
One of the remedies initially discussed was a relocated parking space, and Brgy. Captain Erwin Arila said that they will request the City government to donate a lot to be used as parking area for motorcycles and bicycles to lessen illegal obstructions along the roads in the barangay.
In addition, Brgy. Capt. Arila said that they have informed Bacolod Traffic Administration Office (BTAO) about the incident, which the latter suggested to conduct a public hearing to discuss with the residents the possible remedies in case similar incident occurs.
The Department was represented by District Engineer Abraham C. Villareal of Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), Bacolod City District Engineering Office, along with Maintenance Chief, Engr. Alejo T. Germinal.
