Residents of Sitio Lowag can now enjoy a more conducive and faster transport of goods and services as the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) – Negros Occidental 3rd District Engineering Office (DEO) completed the concreting of road in Barangay Locotan, Kabankalan City in Negros Occidental province.

According to Regional Director Wenceslao M. Leaño, the project amounting to ₱11.28 million, funded under Payapa at Masaganang Pamayanan (PAMANA) Program of the Presidential Adviser on Peace Process (OPAPP), involves stone masonry, pipe culverts, and grouted riprap.

“This is one of the infrastructure projects implemented to lessen the insurgency cases and to promote long-lasting peace progress by providing more accessible and safety road network to isolated areas in the province,” Director Leaño said.

The 718 lineal-meter road with a 5-meter wide Portland Concrete Cement Pavement (PCCP) is expected to benefit 561 residents including the local farmers and other crop sellers in the community.

In addition, the road project promotes convenient transport of farm products in nearby barangays and ensures development of the socio-economic capacity of the people in Negros Occidental.
