In the preparation of upcoming CY 2019 Midterm National and Local Election, the Department of Public Works and Highways – Samar First District Engineering Office (SFDEO) participates in a simultaneous unity walk, interfaith prayer rally and covenant signing on January 13, 2019.
At 6:00 in the morning, the Philippine National Police (PNP) leads the 3-kilometer unity walk from Calbayog City Hall to Calbayog City Sports Center. Officials and personnel from the different government institutions in the city participated in the event, among them were the eager employees of DPWH - SFDEO.
After the unity walk, the prayer rally began with an interfaith prayer officiated by various religious groups. This activity promotes awareness and invokes the intervention of the Almighty in the said election in order to ensure Safe and Fair Election (SAFE) and Honest Orderly and Peaceful Election 2019 (HOPE).
The event ended with the signing of the pledge of commitment and releasing of white balloons by religious leaders and political party leaders.
