P180-M Bridge Crossing Iloilo River Opens

Monday, January 25, 2016

A new bridge connecting Muelle Loney and Lapuz district in Iloilo City was formally opened to vehicular traffic.

Senate President Franklin Drilon and Department of Public Works and Highways Secretary Rogelio L. Singson led the ribbon-cutting ceremony for Muelle Loney (Drilon) Bridge crossing Iloilo River. They were joined by DPWH Region 6 Director Edilberto Tayao, Iloilo City Mayor Jed Patrick Mabilog, Iloilo 2nd District Representative Arcadio Gorriceta, and other local officials.

The 180 million worth bridge project will provide additional access to the newly operational Iloilo Ferry Terminal, making it more accessible to the general public.

The bridge will also help decongest traffic along the North Marginal Wharf Road, the only access road to the ferry terminal.

The two-lane 125 linear meters pre-stressed concrete girder bridge is complemented by a 157-meter promenade at the Lapuz side and another 536.6 meter Esplanade at the Muelle Loney side.
