
The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) led by Secretary Mark A. Villar and stakeholders’ representative recently held the 4th Quarter DPWH Multi-Sector Governance Council (MSGC) meeting at the DPWH Central Office for an assessment review of the Department’s strategic infrastructure programs, policies and key accomplishments for FY 2018.
DPWH Performance Governance System (PGS) Committee Chairperson, Undersecretary Maria Catalina Cabral, together with the Corporate Planning and Management Division facilitated the meeting attended by key officials from multi-sector organizations that serve multi-faceted roles as the agency’s stakeholders, partners, and independent advisory body.
Among those present at the meeting were Engr. Angel Lazaro of Philippine Institute of Civil Engineers (PICE) and Confederation of Filipino Consulting Organizations (COFILCO) Inc., Mr. Ibarra Paulino of Philippine Constructors Association, Inc. (PCA), Mr. Bernardo Villegas of the University of Asia and the Pacific (UA&P), Ms. Gen Licos of National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA), Mr. Nico Borromeo of Philippine Institute for Development Studies (PIDS), Ms. Aileen Mappala of University of the Philippines - National Center for Transportation Studies (NCTS) and Ms. Jeanne Arame Cruz of Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCCI).
With the conferment of the PGS Proficiency Stage in 2017, DPWH committed to achieve the PGS Institutionalization Stage by furthering its governance reforms through the proactive involvement of the MSGC for their recommendations and initiatives that would contribute in the realization of its organizational goals.
The PGS is a tool used by DPWH to gauge its performance holistically and systematize the implementation and monitoring of its strategy. It is likewise part the Department’s continuous commitment to promote transparency and accountability in service delivery.
