Motorists are advised on temporary lane closures of Tripa de Gallina Bridge along Gil Puyat Avenue in Pasay City as the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) starts its reconstruction and strengthening works.
DPWH National Capital Region Director Melvin B. Navarro said a total of P25 million was allocated to replace the southbound lanes of Tripa de Gallina Bridge which is among the weak bridges identified by the DPWH Bridge Management System (BMS) Inventory.
As per BMS Inventory, the 4-lane Tripa de Gallina Bridge needs to undergo urgent replacement with inevitable wear and tear by about 50 years of service as evident by presence of cracks.
“Reconstruction has started on the inner two (2) lanes of Tripa de Gallina Bridge hence remaining two (2) outer lanes are open and passable for now. Once completed, we will work on the outer lanes,” said Director Navarro.
“We are appealing for public’s patience and understanding while we temporary limit passable lanes so our crew can perform critical work on the bridge,” said Director Navarro who added that southbound direction is aimed for completion by April 2019.
He however assured that the new Tripa de Gallina Bridge will be seismic-resistant and can handle ground acceleration ranging from 7 to 8 magnitude.
