The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) and the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) joined forces this week in an effort to speed up removal of obstructions, particularly muds along national roads in the province of Leyte.
Engineer Lino Francisco C. Gonzales of DPWH Leyte Fourth District Engineering Office said with the help of BFP, DPWH Maintenance team was able to clean the Palo-Carigara-Ormoc Road which has acquired muds due to the weather condition and the transport of sugarcane during its harvest season.
“Soil accumulation has built up along our national roads especially along the Palo-Carigara-Ormoc Road, where the sugarcane milling plant is situated,” noted Gonzales.
BFP assists in the clearing operations through their fire trucks that blast water on hardened muds along the road.
Meanwhile, Engr. Gonzales also ordered the application of thermoplastic road markings on the asphalted bridges along the Ormoc-Baybay-Southern Leyte Boundary (OBSL) Road.
The reflective lane markings will ensure the safe land travel especially at night, hence reduce the occurrence of road accidents in the area.
