A new four-lane highway was constructed by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) to decongest traffic in the commercial district of Alaminos City, Pangasinan.

The 1.861 kilometers Alaminos-Bani Bypass Road Project between the Pangasinan-Zambales Road and Alaminos-Bani Road will benefit travelers going to and from the numerous scenic places on the west coast of the Province of Pangasinan.

Constructed at a cost of P28.120 Million, the concrete paved road with pavement markings, pedestrian sidewalk, and solar lightings will reduce the occurrence of congestion at Alaminos City which serves as the gateway to tourism destinations of Bolinao and Dasol including Hundred Island National Park in Brgy. Lucap, Alaminos City.

In his report to Secretary Mark A. Villar, DPWH Region 1 Director Ronnel M. Tan said that  the construction of the by-pass road was implemented by DPWH Pangasinan 1st District Engineering Office with the embankment elevated above the maximum recorded flood level.

Director Tan said that by-pass road will lessen travel time and ease the transport of goods, thus generating savings on fuel and maintenance cost of vehicles using this route.

In its soft opening before the city’s town fiesta celebration, the new by-pass road has contributed in easing the perennial traffic experience during the occasion.

The construction of by-passes/diversion roads is among the strategic programs of DPWH to decongest traffic in busy areas.
