New Satellite Materials Testing Lab opens in Region 2

A new satellite materials testing laboratory of the Department of Public Works and Highways Regional Office II launches its maiden operation during the inauguration activity on October 6, 2017 in Bayombong, Nueva Vizcaya.

       With a funding of P4,734,411 million, the satellite lab is located at Area Equipment Services (AES) Compound in  Barangay Vista Alegre, Bayombong, Nueva Vizcaya. It is now ready to accept testing of construction materials, namely: coarse and fine aggregates, soil, bitumious mix, asphalt aggregates, reinforcing steel bars, concrete cored sample, among others.

          It is also open to conduct abrasion testing, field density test, concrete pipe testing, and compressive test on cylinder, beam and CHB samples.

 

 

        According to Engr. Bernard T. Calabazaron, chief of the Quality Assurance and Hydrology Division (QAHD), the new satellite lab is one of the nine proposed materials testing laboratories nationwide provided under the Project Implementation and Management Services for the Japan International Cooperation Agency -Road Upgrading and Preservation Project (JRUPP) Institutional Capacity Development (ICD) Component.
